 LVC Baby Lab

Welcome to the Baby Lab at Lebanon Valley College!

Picture
We study infant language learning by observing parent-child interaction. The goal of our research is to better understand the relationship between the social environment and infant cognitive development. With your help, we can learn the answers to some of the questions we are currently asking. These questions include:
  • How do infant’s prelinguistic vocalizations (babbles) influence caregiver reactions?
  • Do different types of infant vocalizations impact what parents say?
  • Does infant gaze change how parents respond?
  • Does parent perception of infant vocalizations change as infants get older?
  • Do mothers, fathers, and childcare providers react differently to infant vocalizations?
